Dom Merritt, President of the Associate Board
Talent Management Consultant at Blue Cross Blue Shield, former Associate Board secretary, and longtime Gateway Green supporter Dom Merritt, was recently named president of the Associate Board. In this position, he will lead our board of young professionals who support the organization through a variety of activities and events focused on making positive, visible changes in the urban environment.
“I was first introduced to Gateway Green about three years ago by a friend after I told him that I was looking for an organization where I could make an impact in helping to keep Chicago an awesome place to live. In the future, I see Gateway Green being one of Chicago’s premier environmental and sustainability organizations. I really see us expanding the depth of our reach and impact in the Chicagoland area through strategic partnerships and a redefined awareness of our mission and purpose. With that comes hard work and commitment, not only from myself, but all of our volunteers and partners”.
Members of the Associate Board direct marketing and awareness for Chicago Gateway Green as well as coordinate volunteer opportunities. Board members also play a huge role in events such as the Gaming for Green Texas Hold ‘Em tournament and casino night in July, and of course the organization’s signature Green Tie Ball in September among others.
The Associate Board is comprised of about 40 young professionals in their 20’s and 30’s, representing diverse backgrounds, industries and networks. In addition to Merritt’s role as president, the board is led by officers including vice president Tommy Choi (Weinberg Choi Realty, Inc.), along with treasurer, Scot Zoellick (American Chartered Bank) and secretary, Mack Alsaidi (Coldwell Banker Real Estate).
