We’re growing! Meet our newest member of the team, Michelle Gronkowski. Michelle was born and raised in Bridgeport. For many years, Michelle worked for the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events in the Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships Division. Last year she moved to New York City to get a change of pace, but recently came back to Chicago to be with her family and friends who are very important to her. She has also enjoyed studying acting since she was 14 in various programs. We’re very lucky to have her as our new Events and Program Director and excited for what’s to come!
CGG: What prompted your interest in a career within the non-profit event industry?
MG: I have supported the non-profit industry for many years. It is impressive to see how these organizations put their heart and soul into their work. The success of the work that Chicago Gateway Green continues to accomplish is amazing and definitely portrayed through their events.
CGG: What led you to Gateway Green and what’re you looking forward to in your role the most?
MG: I love the fact that this organization is dedicated to the greening and beautification of Chicago. It is such a unique organization with a wonderful message. I look forward to working with the team and putting lots of time and effort into Winter Green, Gaming for Green and Green Tie Ball!
CGG: How do you plan on bringing something different to the table for this year’s events?
MG: That’s a great question! Over the years, I have worked with a team to produce some of the largest events in the country and I have also worked on many galas and weddings. I feel the combination of my experience in all of these can help bring a little bit of knowledge from each side to these events. As a team, I think we will each contribute something wonderful to make these events a success!
CGG: When you’re not putting on awesome events how do you spend your free time?
MG: I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, my dog and traveling! I also volunteer whenever I can for animal rescue organizations. Finding homes for needy animals has always been a passion of mine.
CGG: If you could have coffee with anybody alive or living who would it be and why?
MG: I would love to have coffee with my Dad again. He passed away 10 years ago and I miss him so much every day! I love having coffee with my Mom and sister all the time so I would always choose either one of them as well ☺
