Mayor Emanuel has made a promise: double the amount of LEED certifications awarded to buildings owned by the city of Chicago by 2015—and he is well on his way to fulfilling that promise.
LEED certification stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and has levels of achievement buildings can achieve within it. Mayor Emanuel had 41-municipally owned facilities in Chicago when he committed to doubling that number. Since then, 11 more have been added and 30 are registered to receive LEED certification. Apart from certifications, Chicago has made other moves to become a greener city. Gateway Green has been committed to this mission since its inception and we show our passion for the Earth by planting trees, preserving parks, and ensuring that our Expressway sites are maintained. Through the combination of green skyscrapers and a greener Earth, Gateway will keep working hard for the city we all love so much to reach our sustainability goals.
