Tips and facts to save the earth and save money!
If you ever wonder what easy things you can do help eliminate harmful waste in the environment and to help cut down on your expenses, we are going to name a few. By making these helpful alterations apart of your daily routine you can easily contribute to the earth in a positive way. Saving money and going green can actually go hand in hand!
- Always program your thermostat.
You can save up to $150 a year if you program your thermostat correctly when you are sleeping or not home. By just setting the temperature way up or way down for 7 hours a day you can prevent nearly 36 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emission.
- Turn the faucet off while you are brushing your teeth.
Each individual can save about 10 gallons of water a day by not leaving the water running while brushing their teeth. For a family of 4 that’s almost 14,000 gallons of waisted water!
- Carpool or use public transportation whenever possible.
Public transportation can reduce gasoline consumption by 1.4 billion gallons. Not only does it save you money, but also helps reduce pollution.
- When baking or cooking dinner, never preheat your oven for longer then 10 minutes.
If everyone reduced their oven time by just one hour per year, we could save enough energy to bake 1 billion cookies!
- Recycle paper, especially the newspaper.
By simply recycling the newspaper everyday we could save up to 75 million trees a year.
