Grigory Pekarsky Named President of Chicago Gateway Green’s New Associate Board, Kenneth R. Coe Jr. Named Vice President
CHICAGO (April 18, 2012) – The board of directors of nonprofit Chicago Gateway Green is forming an associate board of directors to help further its mission of greening and beautifying the city.
Young professionals will support the organization through a variety of activities and events focused on making positive, visible changes in the urban environment. Longtime Chicago Gateway Green supporter Grigory Pekarsky, managing broker/partner with Vesta Preferred, was recently named president of the new associate board.
“The associate board plays a pivotal role for Chicago Gateway Green and its future,” he says. “Just as a tree needs a strong root system to grow and thrive, Gateway Green needs an active, working and engaged group of young supporters as it moves forward to make Chicago’s landscape and tree canopy more sustainable and stunning.”
Members of the associate board will help sustain Chicago Gateway Green by participating in special fundraising events such as the Gaming for Green Texas Hold ‘Em tournament and casino night in July, the organization’s signature Green Tie Ball in September and other associate board events throughout the year.
The associate board, which meets about six times a year, is comprised of two-dozen members between the ages of 25 and 40, representing diverse backgrounds, industries and networks. In addition to Pekarsky’s role as president, the board is led by officers including vice president Kenneth R. Coe Jr. (Body Dubble), along with treasurer, Scot Zoellick (American Chartered Bank) and secretary, Jennifer Witt (CB Exchange).
Through its 25-year history, Chicago Gateway Green has earned support from prominent individuals and organizations. Reporter/anchor and active philanthropist Bill Kurtis serves as honorary spokesperson, and the organization’s officers and senior board of directors include Chicago leaders in business, industry, charity and the arts.
