CGG: How did you get started with Chicago Gateway Green?
JL: Tony and I have several mutual connections on LinkedIn which was where I first learned about CGG. We, Tony & I, had a few conversations via email which led eventually to an in-person where we discussed amongst other subjects, the work that Gateway Green does in and around the city. With two fund raising events on the near horizon, I was invited to join the associate board where I was introduced to a number of wonderfully talented people who enjoy working in a team environment.
CGG: What’s your favorite part about Chicago?
JL: I am up and out early a lot so my favorite visual I’d say is the skyline at dawn when driving on Lake Shore Drive. The architecture, any time of day, is awe inspiring. Last but not least – Friday afternoon games at Wrigley Field.
CGG: If you could have 1 superpower, what would it be and why?
JL: To get people to understand other people’s points of view. Not everybody is going to agree on everything but at least understanding where another person is coming from might help to turn down the temperature on the divisiveness and lessen the degree violence around the world.
CGG: What’s your favorite thing to cook? Don’t cook? What’s your favorite thing to eat?
JL: I’m a huge fan of just about anything on the grill. My favorite to cook & enjoy I’d say would be a filet with a small lobster tale on the side accompanied by an assortment grilled vegetables. Also, drinking an ice cold beer while grilling on a warm summer day is a must!
CGG: If your life had a theme song what would it be?
JL: Right Now – Van Halen (Favorite Band) – A lot of people, including myself, can spend so much time thinking about the past or worrying about the future that we miss out on what’s taking place right here / right now. I feel its important to be present in the moment and give your attention to the people you are with. “Right Now Is Everything”
CGG: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
JL: Happily married, still working but not quite as much & splitting time between Chicago, AZ & San Diego.
