Chicago Gateway Green
Landscape Operations Manager
Chicago Gateway Green: Why did you decide to get involved with Gateway Green?
Allison Neuman: I decided to apply for a job with Gateway Green because I love its mission and the huge impact it has on Chicago. I’ve always been interested in urban planning, as well as the relationship between urbanism and nature. I think it’s amazing that our gardens are not only beautiful, but they help counteract many negative environmental impacts of a highly populated city. And being able to bring together the business community to accomplish this is just icing on the cake.
CGG: What is your favorite thing about Chicago?
AN: As a recent Chicago transplant, I’ve enjoyed exploring every aspect of Chicago. My current favorite thing about Chicago is the summer hustle and bustle! There’s always so much going on, so much to do, and so many people to see. The outdoor patios and street festivals make the city really lively, so it’s fun to people watch and partake in the festivities.
CGG: Tell us something interesting that has happened to you.
AN: I was slimed on Nickelodeon when I was a little kid. It was probably the highlight of my childhood.
CGG: What is your favorite movie, book, or band?
AN: My all-time favorite band is Guster. I recently saw them in concert for the first time, and they did not disappoint.
