Chicago Gateway Green Associate Board of Directors, Social Media Vice-Chair
Head of Digital Marketing, CCC Information Services
Chicago Gateway Green: Why did you decide to get involved with Gateway Green?
JD: I strongly believe in Gateway Green’s mission – to beautify Chicago and promote sustainability throughout the region. I also understand the challenges that come with managing a non-profit and how important it is to leverage and rely on volunteers. I take pride in knowing my role as a Board member is critical and I’m contributing to meeting the needs of the organization and the larger goal of beautifying the Chicagoland region.
CGG: What is your favorite thing about Chicago?
JD: It’s definitely not the weather. I’d have to say the culture and diversity. And I love how each neighborhood comes with its own distinct flavor and identity. Whether it’s the food, people, or scenery, you can always expect something different. Oh, and sadly, the Cubs.
CGG: Tell us a random fun/funny fact about yourself.
JD: A funny story…. I had the chance to meet Mayor Emanuel a while back. But when I went to shake his hand, I mistakenly collided with the person standing next to me, almost knocking him over. This prompted the Mayor to shake his head and laugh at us both, which in turn was embarrassing and magical at the same time. A random fact… my guilty pleasure is bad reality TV (think Bravo).
CGG: What is your favorite movie, book, or band?
JD: My favorite movie has to be Pulp Fiction. But I’m also a huge fan of anything done by Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Martin Scorsese (Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, The Departed).
