The Talbott Hotel on Delaware St. is a lovely historic building with a warm, opulent atmosphere. Upon arrival, any guest or passerby may not be expecting to spot a rather unusual animal protruding from the façade of the building. Cowcinella Novemnotata has been hanging out above the main entrance since 1999 when CowParade chose this location as a public art display. She is now the mascot for this highly reviewed and Green Sealed certified hotel. We are so excited to announce a contest that will be donating all sales of minature cow stuffed animals to Chicago Gateway Green.
The Talbott has taken the icon further by creating a contest for hotel fans to promote this cow while traveling around the world. In reward for posting pictures of yourself and this artsy little friend on their Facebook page participants have the chance to win free stays in the hotel. A new winner is announced every month from September 2013 to July 2014. Additionally there will be one grand prize winner of a 9 night stay announced on August 15, 2014.
We are thrilled to be working with a hotel that shares a common value with our organization which is being sustainable and supporting the environment as much as possible. The Talbott general manager has said, “We’re excited to partner with such a like-minded organization and glad to help raise the awareness of Chicago Gateway Green so that visitors and locals alike can better understand the importance of their organization and the positive impact they have on our city and neighborhoods.”
We want to thank the Talbott Hotel for offering 100 percent of the proceeds from the purchase of these cows to our CGG projects. We hope you will all have the chance to participate in this fun contest as it will open opportunities for our funding and greening efforts in the city. With the help of this hotel we want visitors to the city to appreciate the value of keeping the city as beautiful as possible. The cows are available for purchase online as well as in the hotel and restaurant Little Market Brasserie.
